Poppy, Czech Culinary

Special variety passed down for generations in the Czech Republic now here in Canada. Short but staggered flowering time and the beauty of the petals give way to huge heads full of seed; almost a tablespoon per head! Produces lovely blue seed that is oily and nutty and delicious to use in baking. This variety was passed along to us by our friends at Saanich Organics (Seeds of the Revolution).

 

Growing Information

Direct sow early spring, cover sparingly with soil (1/8" deep). Thin to 6" spacing. Germination can take up to 28 days.
